Saving Excelsior

A recent issue of Exchange, the magazine for the Land Trust Alliance, tells the story of John Hopper, who helped save the site of his boyhood school Excelsior, which was closed in 1962. He and the nearly 300-person strong Friends and Alumni Association cleaned up the site and erected a monument to the school. And to ensure the continued well-being of the site, Land Legacy was enlisted to become the caretaker for the site in the future. Read the whole story from Exchange in this PDF document:
