Spavinaw Creek Riparian Buffers (Northeastern Oklahoma) — Land Legacy is working in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and others to create riparian buffers along Spavinaw Creek. Buffers will help to preserve water quality by preventing erosion into the stream. They will also help to protect critical habitat for several endangered cave species in the region.
Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (Oklahoma, statewide) — In partnership with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Land Legacy is helping to enroll farms and ranches from across Oklahoma in this federal program that preserves agricultural lands through conservation easements.
Fort Smith Brownfield (downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas) — In partnership with the National Park Service (NPS), Land Legacy is working to acquire this abandoned industrial site for clean-up and conversion to public open space. When completed, the property will become an addition to the Fort Smith National Historic Site.
Fort Sill Private Lands Initiative (Comanche County, Oklahoma) — In partnership with the Department of Defense and other partners, Land Legacy is working to preserve open space around Fort Sill Army Post. The project will preserve natural resources while preventing incompatible land uses from occurring along the installation's perimeter.
Downtown Tulsa Parks (Tulsa, Oklahoma) — Land Legacy is working closely with the Tulsa Development Authority to create a series of parks in downtown Tulsa. The first, Legacy Place, was created in Summer 2004, and two more are underway. Expected completion June 2008.
Oklahoma City Groundworks (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) — Land Legacy is assisting the City of Oklahoma City in exploring this program which provides funding for the clean-up of contaminated, inner-city sites and their ultimate reuse as open space or new development. The program is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency and administered by the National Park Service.
